An independent graphic designer, I have 30+ years in-house, agency and freelance experience in Toronto and Calgary. I have worked with companies large and small, creating everything from strategic design for corporate giants to distinctive communication for community arts groups.
I like to work from concept to completion. With me you get design, production and if need be—project management—in one person, making for a streamlined process, time efficiencies and savings.
Surface Pattern Design
I’ve recently expanded my creative efforts into surface pattern design. Pattern is naturally all around us and is a continuing source of energy, rhythm and inspiration. I’ve always been drawn to big, bold patterns, textures, form and colour and through this, surface pattern design is a perfect vehicle for new creative exploration.
Over my lifetime, I’ve designed, sewed and knitted my own garments—it’s almost impossible for me to just stick to “the original pattern”. I’m always compelled to find a way to make it my own. Now, designing for textiles and surfaces is another way to create what I want to see in the world.
Personal Work
A life-long maker, I love to include upcycled/recycled and found materials in my artwork. “Gasp! Don’t throw that away; I can make something out of it!” This inclination finds its way into my art through collage, painting, knitting and various forms of crafting.
